Situated 30km north of Halls Gap, the Northern Grampians offer breathtaking natural beauty on a grand scale, with magnificent sunrises, sunsets and night skies. The colours, shapes and textures of the mountain range combine to create an impressive landscape..
Early morning and dusk bring a host of kangaroos and native birds to our garden. They can be viewed from the bedrooms and dining area. You will find binoculars in the house.
RELAXING: Breakfast on the front terrace soaking up the spectacular mountain vistas while the sun filters through the glorious ornamental vines above.
Enjoy a drink at dusk in the same spot, as the setting sun paints a rosy flush on the mountain landscape and the birds and animals prepare to rest.
Cook lunch in the al fresco kitchen with electric BBQ and eat in the sunny rear walled garden with its aromatic herbs and citrus trees.
By Night - Dine by candlelight to the strains of sweet music at the vast dining table. Curl up in a comfy chair in front of the open fire with a good book.
SIGHTSEEING: Wander the 22 acres of our propery and the adjacent National Park and take in the impressive mountain views to both North and South.
And…..if you can bear to leave Top Paddock then there is lots to see and do in the surrounding Wartook Valley:
The Grampians hosts two-thirds of the Aboriginal rock art sites in Victoria and some of these are to be found in both the Black Range and Wartook region.
FLORA AND FAUNA: The area surrounding the Wartook Valley is steeped in aboriginal and pioneer history and is one of the richest flora areas in the park with spectacular wildflower displays in late winter, through spring.
Many scenic walks are close by: Mackenzie Falls, Mt. Zero, Flat Rock, Hollow Mountain, Mt. Staplyton, Mt. Difficult.
ROCKCLIMBING and ABSEILING:
Mt. Staplyton, Mt. Difficult, and to the West of Horsham lies Mt Arapiles one of the worldʼs foremost rock climbing locations. From the summit of Mt. Arapiles there is a wonderful vista of the Wimmera Plain with its salt lakes.
